Student Music Festival – September 2026
27 September 2026 · GHD Auditorium, UQ
Thank you to everyone who played, and to the families who came and filled the hall. Several students were on stage for the very…
Twice a year the students take over a hall. Everyone is welcome to play, including complete beginners and adults, and families are very welcome in the audience.

Most students play one or two pieces. Nobody is required to perform, but almost everyone does.
Everyone plays
Complete beginners share the programme with students preparing for senior grades. Nobody is marked on the day.
Families welcome
Parents, grandparents and siblings all come. It is a relaxed hall, and children are allowed to be children.
About two hours
Long enough to feel like a real event, short enough that nobody gets restless.
Photos afterwards
Where consent is given, photos go into a private page for that concert's families, and are deleted after thirty days.
The practice is the point
The real value is in the weeks of preparation. The performance is the reward, not the reason.
No pressure to repeat
A student can sit one out and come back for the next one. That is completely normal.
